Responsibilities
- Oversee the organization's day-to-day operations and ensure programs effectively serve the community.
- Collaborate with staff, board members, volunteers, partner organizations, and the Office of the Consul General of Japan in New York.
- Develop and expand community outreach efforts while attracting new members.
- Plan and oversee cultural festivals, health fairs, senior programs, educational events, fundraising activities, and other community programs.
- Prepare organizational communications, including monthly newsletters, email announcements, social media content, and website updates, with support from staff and board members.
- Oversee budgets, financial reporting, and nonprofit administration. (Day-to-day accounting responsibilities are handled by other staff.)
- Ensure the organization continues to fulfill its mission while maintaining effective administrative operations.
Qualifications
- Fluent in both Japanese and English (spoken and written).
- Background in social work is required.
- Knowledge of New York City, New York State, and U.S. social services, healthcare, and welfare systems is strongly preferred.
- Previous nonprofit management or administration experience preferred.
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and QuickBooks is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to represent the organization effectively before executives, board members, government officials, community leaders, and external stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and lead diverse teams.
