Japanese Bilingual Accounting Manager - Houston TX

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements (IFRS / U.S. GAAP)
• Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and accruals
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to global HQ
• Manage audits and coordinate with external auditors
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings with advisors
• Support tax planning and optimization initiatives
• Approve invoices and payments in line with internal controls
• Monitor cash flow and manage company cash positions
• Handle intercompany transactions (loans, capital activity, etc.)
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team (3 direct reports)
• Set priorities, review work, and ensure high-quality output
• Support hiring, training, and performance development
• Lead budgeting and forecasting
• Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership
• Identify and implement process improvements

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience
• BA degree
• CPA preferred
• Experience managing or mentoring a team
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP
• Background in financial reporting, audits, and tax coordination
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
• Prefer Oil & Gas or energy industry experience (including JV accounting)
• Experience working with international teams or HQ
• Japanese Bilingual language skills
