Licensed Customs Broker - Wood Dale, IL

Responsibilities

• • Accurately classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
• • Prepare and submit customs entries using ACE/ABI systems
• • Ensure all import documentation aligns with federal laws and internal policies
• • Communicate with CBP, Partner Government Agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA), and clients
• • Proactively resolve shipment holds, exams, and related issues
• • Stay current with U.S. import regulations and CBP updates
• • Oversee documentation accuracy, including commercial invoices, ISFs, and entry summaries
• • Advise internal teams and clients on customs-related matters
• • Coordinate cargo release and delivery with logistics partners
• • Assist with compliance audits and operational improvements
• • Train and mentor junior customs staff

Qualifications

• • Active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required)
• • 3–5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or freight forwarding
• • Strong understanding of import regulations, HTS, and PGA requirements
• • Proficient in ACE, ABI, and customs entry systems
• • Experience with logistics/transportation software is a plus
• • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• • Meticulous attention to detail and compliance
