Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist in preparing and reviewing tax-related documents
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements
- Review and analyze financial reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including preparing financial models, coordinating with department heads, and consolidating data
- Develop and maintain financial forecasts and projections to guide strategic planning and resource allocation
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability
- Prepare detailed variance analyses to compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts
- Any support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Japanese skill set (speak, read and write)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA, CMA preferred)
- Over 6 years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles, with some experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial regulations
- Understanding of income tax and corporate income tax, VAT and Performs calculations and tax returns related to sales tax
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear and concise manner
- Advanced knowledge of financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems)
- Detail-oriented mindset and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
